How to record video on imovie.
Since I am new to this forum and this is my first post a bit about me:
I am male, in my 40s and live in Germany. I worked quite some years in science and teaching. I started video editing at a very early age by cutting the Super 8 movies of my dad, with scissors. Don't worry! He showed me how to do it and watched every frame I cut in the first weeks. This got me hooked on and later I filmed the high school video for our final year. Later in my student years I got interested in DV editing and did some experiments, long before YouTube and my computers were not powerful enough to give it really a bang.
So now I am back to my old passion out of necessity. I found a way to combine teaching and online video production. So far I worked with Nero Video 2015. It is definitely not a professional tool, however my financial resources are very limited.
So I was looking for an alternative to produce higher quality without paying the hefty price tag of the Adobe Creative Cloud or Sony Vegas Professional.
Since last week I am testing CyberLink's Power Director and I think it is pretty awesome! I toyed around with normal cutting, digital effects, 3 layer PiP, motion tracking and slideshow.
I think I will give it a shot, micro investment wise. The question I have for you, experienced folks, is: Should I take the subscription model or simply buy the Director Suite 4?
Should I go for:
Director Suite 4 + CL Cloud 40GB / 1Y + PowerDVD 15 Pro + Power DVD Remote
For 179,98 EUR for the download version.
Or
Director Suite Live / 1Y + CL Cloud 40 GB / 1Y
For 99,99 EUR for the one year subscription.
???
Thanks for your input! I started with cutting films when I was twelve. I mean literally cutting. Ah - The times of Super 8, scissors and tape!

I currently favor the subscription model, because it will gurarantee always the latest software version. I only don't know if the subscription version is the same as the boxed version.
Furthermore I red some quite ugly posts about new versions of PowerDirector from people who have used previous versions. So maybe a one time purchase is better. If the DirectorSuite 4 is running well on my system now it is probably wise to stick with it.
Sorry, in my first posting I confused PowerDirector with the DirectorSuite. I started with cutting films when I was twelve. I mean literally cutting. Ah - The times of Super 8, scissors and tape!

As to the ugly posts, they usually get resolved, by members of the forum or Cyberlink Support. Some of the ugly posts are caused by the users own mistakes. It is good to read an opinion about this, from someone who already has some years experience with CyberLink video products. Helps me to make a better decision.
OK, I will let it sink for a night and then go for one or the other.
The conservative side in me wants a box purchase.
The adventurous side in me wants always to toy around with the newest version.
I have to put a video on YouTube until Wednesday 23:59 CEST.
Part of a business challenge.
So that is my time constraint for the purchase decision, because I don't want the intro logo of the trial version in my clip.
I am aware that it is not a million dollar investment, but for me it is a siginificant one. I started with cutting films when I was twelve. I mean literally cutting. Ah - The times of Super 8, scissors and tape!
